Our group's founder, Kintaro Hattori, addressed a key social issue of his time by providing reliable, accurate timekeeping to the general public through watch manufacturing. When the Great Kanto Earthquake struck, he demonstrated a spirit of “helping yourself by helping others,” offering to replace customers' watches being held for repair that were lost when fire destroyed his factory. At considerable cost to his business, Kintaro offered to provide his customers with new watches of comparable value to those that had been destroyed in the fire.

This spirit of working closely with stakeholders to solve problems is one of the proudest legacies of our Group. Even in today's uncertain global environment, we aim to help solve social issues through our transformation into a solutions company that is “uniquely Seiko,” striving for a future filled with smiles around the world, as we have stated in our Group purpose.

One of the necessities for our transformation is the growth of human resources. We believe it is important for each employee to grow and to deliver value to stakeholders through their respective work activities. To realize human capital management, we are making steady efforts to provide opportunities for each employee to challenge themselves. We will continue respecting diversity, always try to place the right people in the right positions, and actively hire external talent.

Our Group, which has inherited this spirit of social conscience from our founder, will continue to grow its business and will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of society, as we stated in our sustainability policy.

Since our founding, our Group has brought excitement to customers through numerous innovative products and services. Even in today's VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous) era, we aim to transform into a solutions company that contributes to solving social issues through our business, ensuring continuous growth into the future.

Our Group is working to contribute to solving social issues through our business activities. For example, by developing micro batteries used in medical devices, we contribute to "promoting physical and mental health and welfare," and by providing timestamps to guarantee the time in data distribution such as electronic contracts, we contribute to "building a safe, secure, and inclusive social infrastructure."

We also want to provide solutions that help solve social issues while paying attention to the needs of our stakeholders. For example, we are working to create a company where employees can do their jobs with pride and peace of mind. We are addressing a variety of issues within the Group, promoting a corporate culture where everyone can freely discuss issues and speak their minds without fear, as we strive to become a company that increases the happiness of each employee.

By recognizing and further developing the corporate strengths that we inherited from our predecessors and passing them on to the next generation, we will continue to strive to become a solutions company that is uniquely Seiko, and achieve our Group purpose of "bringing trust and excitement to society through constant promotion of innovation, creating a future filled with smiles around the world."
