Message from Marlene

It’s been some time since my days as a pop star, when my song Slim Sensation was used for a TV ad for Seiko watches, and now it feels like my special connection with Seiko has given me this opportunity to sing the English version of the company image song. It's a wonderful song! Makoto Kuriya arranged it, and it has a kind of joyous, dance hall feel! I sang it just the way I felt it, looking forward to tomorrow.
LET'S SING and SWING!!

Profile

Marlene

Born in Manila, Philippines. Marlene came to Japan in 1978 and debuted the following year. Since the release of her first album in 1981, she has been warmly welcomed as a diva during the heyday of fusion, releasing hit works such as "Déjà Vu" and "Magic." The theme song "Left Alone" for the Kadokawa movie "Cabaret," released in 1986, topped the foreign music charts on cable radio, and her joint concert with composer Mal Waldron became a topic of conversation. Her activities extend beyond Japan, including concerts and events in various Asian countries. In the 1990s, she ventured into new territories with an album debut and musicals in the United States.
In 2009, her 30th anniversary of debut in Japan, she released her first Latin jazz album "Marlene sings Tropical Jazz," including collaboration tracks with the Tropical Jazz Band. In 2011, she released the album "Initial," reviving famous songs from the 80s, including her hit numbers, in new versions. In 2013, she released the album "Marlene Sings Donna Summer," recreating the hit numbers of disco queen Donna Summer in her unique style.
In April 2016, she released the first album "Cubic Magic" with the Marlene Super Trio [THREESOME], a unit with guitarist Jiro Yoshida and pianist Makoto Kuriya, which was well received. Currently, she continues her energetic activities, including recording the Japanese theme song "Ai ni Nare" (composed by Tokiko Kato) for the movie "Karanukan" (starring GACKT), scheduled for release next spring, and filming her scenes.
