Interview

  • Q : How do you boost your motivation for competitions?

I don’t try to boost my motivation. Instead, when I enter the venue on the day of the competition, I gradually feel the environment changing and the excitement and tension starting to build up. That does the job.

  • Q : How do you manage your diet on a daily basis?

I make sure to eat a balanced diet and actively consume what my body needs at any specific time. Before competitions, I often eat my favorite pasta!

  • Q : What do you enjoy doing when you have down time when you’re traveling abroad?

On my off days, I go out with other athletes. I love gummy candies, so I enjoy buying gummies that are not available in Japan at overseas supermarkets!

  • Q : What are your aims as an athlete?

I want to be an athlete who never gives up, no matter what happens in the competition! I also want to be someone who can inspire and give courage to those who watch me.

Seiko’s Measurement Technology

Timing and measurement are indispensable for sports competitions. Seiko has supported a variety of sports since 1964.
What we bring to each competition includes cutting-edge technology, experience, and a passion for sports.

Touch Plate

Touch Plate

The touch plates installed on the start and turn sides do not react to water pressure or splashes, but are designed to accurately detect the swimmer's touch, and then send signals to the main timing system, the printing timer.

Starting Blocks

Starting Blocks

The starting blocks features a non-slip surface and a footplate that can be adjusted in five increments forward or backward to ensure a secure start for the swimmers. The starting block is equipped with sensors that detect the moment the swimmer’s feet leave the block and send a signal to the main timing system, the “printing timer.”
