Karin Miyawaki

She began fencing at the age of five and quickly distinguished herself in junior competitions. At just 13 years old, she earned a place on Japan’s senior national foil team. In 2018, she won a silver medal in the individual event at the China Grand Prix—marking the first time in 13 years that a Japanese female athlete had reached the podium in this category. That same year, she played a pivotal role in securing Japan’s first-ever gold medal in the team event at the Asian Games. As a core member of the national team, she has continued to contribute to its growing strength and international success. Most recently, she helped Japan capture the bronze medal in the team event at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
