Window Displays
The stately neo-Renaissance-style Wako store is a well-known landmark, not only in Ginza, but also throughout Tokyo. The front-facing window display was born in 1952. Since then, Wako has remained committed to “entertaining all visitors to Ginza.” It promises to continue to be a cultural presence that resonates with the hearts and minds of anyone visiting the area.

The Horn
A symbol that transcends boundaries and points toward the future.
At the beginning of 2026, an installation inspired by the image of unicorns will be featured in the store’s main display window. The unicorn is a mythical creature whose equine likeness has been passed down through the ages. As this year is the Year of the Horse, it is only fitting to display the unicorn, which is rooted in the zodiac sign of the Horse. Unicorns have long been a symbol of purity and hope, and now also reflect aspirations for the future.
The unicorn engraved on the wall appears in a form that seems to crumble like sand, expressing the passage of time, while its horn catches the light and shines. There are subtle marks creating the impression of a horn piercing the glass surface, suggesting the power to break through boundaries. What is presented here is not the unicorn itself, but the faint traces it leaves behind—an evocative space where memory and imagination converge, giving shape to illusion.
This year, once again, a new story begins here.
