Window Displays
The stately neo-Renaissance-style Wako store is a well-known landmark, not only in Ginza, but also throughout Tokyo. The front-facing window display was born in 1952. Since then, Wako has remained committed to “entertaining all visitors to Ginza.” It promises to continue to be a cultural presence that resonates with the hearts and minds of anyone visiting the area.

Tokyo Marathon
On March 1, 2026, the Tokyo Marathon will once again bring excitement to the world’s biggest city! A total of 39,000 runners will pass through the main Ginza 4-chome intersection in front of the Wako store, each with their own aspirations and focused on their own “personal best” times.
With every stride, a runner’s unique rhythm is born, pacing a challenging journey that could span anywhere from two to six hours or more. As they run, the city of Ginza quietly embraces each one, urging them forward.
In this year’s window display, we have visualized the thousands of footsteps that will race along Ginza’s streets, seeing them not only as covering distance, but also as marking units of time, the most critical measurement for any competitive runner. Our display shows “layers of time,” which we have expressed by use of overlapping transparent films and special illumination.
The names of all the participants are displayed across the main window. We invite you to stop by and search for your own name or that of someone close to you. The installation will be on view until 7:00 p.m. on March 2.
As the official timer of the Tokyo Marathon, Seiko will once again record every exciting second of every runner as they make their way through the city.
