SDGs and biodiversity

What is biodiversity? Why is it important? First, we will learn through lectures. People often say that insects are “disgusting” or “scary,” but they are important for the environment and for human life.

Students will play a game in which they use their eyes, ears, and other senses to search for items written on a bingo card. They will go into the forest near the workshop and search for items such as nuts, mushrooms, and bird sounds to complete the card.

In groups, we will use materials such as scrap wood, dead branches, bamboo, pine cones, etc. that we have prepared in advance to build rooms for insects who will stay in the hotel. “I hope a lot of insects will stay,” says one child, voicing what others are no doubt thinking. The students enjoy designing their own rooms while they imaginine how the insects will live in the hotel,.

The finished insect rooms are put into the framework of the hotel, which is made of wood and iron. We prepared rooms of various shapes so that different kinds of insects could live in them.
