The Improviser: Persona
Unhurried and Flexible — A Master of Personal Optimization
The Improviser type reshapes time at their own discretion and believes that time should be experienced rather than controlled.
In contrast to a Taipa-driven society, they rarely feel either pressed for time or the lack of it, and are less likely to act with efficiency in mind. They also seldom spend money to save time.
Instead of prioritizing rationalization and efficiency, they value a relaxed lifestyle and often derive satisfaction from what might otherwise be considered “unproductive” or “wasted” time—aligning closely with Menpa-oriented values.
They do not impose their time preferences on others and tend not to engage in discussions about time sense differences.
They are characterized by a calm and unhurried approach, mastering the art of enjoying time on their own terms.
*1 Taipa (Time Performance): Defined in this survey as the effectiveness of time usage in daily life. It encompasses not only time-saving and efficiency, but also ways of spending time that respondents themselves perceive as enriching.
*2 Menpa (Mental Performance): A performance metric following cost performance and time performance, focusing on reducing psychological burden and prioritizing emotional stability, human connections, and overall life satisfaction. In this survey, “Menpa” is defined as a time value that emphasizes mental fulfillment, a sense of satisfaction, and connections with others.
