Watches are not all Seiko provides.
Watches are not all that Seiko has to offer society. Our business activities also include the provision of electronic devices and system solutions as well as the operation of a retail business.
In the founder's sprit of "Remain one step ahead of our time," Seiko has developed its watch business by combining its unique cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship. To fully harness this uniqueness, we has remained one of the few manufacture d'horlogerie (full-scale manufacturers) in the world that consistently engage in parts production, assembly, and adjustment. Our main products are four global brands: Grand Seiko, which seeks the essence of watches, Seiko Astron, the world's first GPS solar watch, Seiko Prospex, descended from the first domestically produced diver's watch, and Seiko Presage, which exerts a made-in-Japan mechanical charm.
Using the precise, reliable technologies we created through more than a century of developing world-class timepieces, we are expanding development and production of electronic components and mechanical precision parts for use in a wide variety of products.
The precision electronic components that emerged from our years-long development of quartz watches are now widely used in smartphones, cars, digital appliances, and industrial equipment. For example, rechargeable batteries and capacitors play a vital role in communications as the backup power supply for the memory and clock functions of digital equipment. Our quartz crystals and quartz oscillator ICs generate reference signals to synchronize multiple electronic components, while our infrared sensor modules are key components in security devices and home appliances as well as in contactless thermometers. All these components were created through our long history of innovation.
Precision Parts & Machines
We supply high-precision parts that are used in components for automobiles, hard disk drives, and miniature ball bearings. The machine tools that we have produced for bearing makers, automotive parts makers, and many other types of manufacturers are proving their worth daily in high-precision manufacturing.
Our thermal printers are compact, extremely quiet, and easy to maintain. Because of these features, they are widely used in devices such as POS cash registers and other kinds of payment terminals, medical equipment, and measuring instruments. Our inkjet printheads are key components of industrial inkjet printers. They contribute greatly to improved productivity and higher-quality printing for products such as advertising billboards, building materials, and textiles, among many others.
To meet our customers’ increasingly complex needs in this age of digital transformation, we provide optimal one-stop systems solutions, from consultation to system construction and operation management. We support the transformation of each customer’s business model based on the customer’s point of view.
By providing services such as time stamp certification, digital signatures, electronic contracts, and identity authentication solutions to secure the veracity of electronic data, we contribute to making electronic transactions safe and secure. This resolves security issues involved with work-at-home and other types of telework as well as the ongoing “digital shift” underway in many businesses.
X-Tech (Cross Tech) solutions
By providing a wide range of solutions, including one-stop support for transactions, from terminals to support center services, as well as ordering systems and more, we promote the digitization and cashless operation of our customers’ businesses and achieve greater user satisfaction.
We provide network communications and mobile solutions to support our customers’ business infrastructures, including high-speed data transmission, high-precision time synchronization, and financial EDI. In this way, we are helping to promote the realization of an IoT society, contributing to more efficient operations, and helping to solve the problem of labor shortages.
Digital performance management solutions
In response to the growing trend to increase companies’ competitive advantages through digitalization, we provide support for increasingly complex digital business processes. In doing so, we contribute to the stable provision of services and improved user experience, which leads to greater customer satisfaction and increasing corporate value.
We provide IoT platforms that leverage the combined power of sensor-based technologies, wireless communication units that enable low-power, wide-area communication, IoT-sensing devices, and more.
Seiko has been a complete, end-to-end clock-making company for over 125 years, since the time it produced its very first wall clock. Today, we still pride ourselves on handling every step of the process, from product planning and manufacturing to after-sales service. Thanks to our combination of high-quality manufacturing skills and cutting-edge technology, we are able to offer a broad range of exceptional products.
System Clocks/Sports Timing
We bring together the most reliable technology and our 140 years of knowhow to produce products of superb quality and exceptionally high accuracy, such as the system clocks used in public facilities and competitive sports timing devices, products that capture each precious moment of time.
