CEO Hattori Receives the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon

This award was conferred in recognition of the following achievements, primarily in the watch business:

(1) Creating a new management structure and expanding sales of mechanical watches
(2) Bringing about a structural transformation through product and distribution reforms in international markets
(3) Establishing the Grand Seiko brand in the global luxury watch market
(4) Promoting R&D activities and developing innovative products by combining cutting-edge technology and outstanding craftsmanship

Mr. Hattori’s initiative led to the creation of innovative mechanical watches, such as the Grand Seiko Kodo Constant-force Tourbillon, which features a complex mechanism never seen before in the
history of watchmaking. This achievement, which received high praise worldwide, not only contributed to the company's business development and reputation, but also enhanced the image of the Japanese watch industry.

It is a great honor for me to receive this prestigious award, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the many people who have made it possible. Since its founding in 1881, Seiko has promoted technological innovation in the firm belief that the ability to measure and communicate time accurately is essential for both business and society. Driven by the passion inherited from our predecessors, we continue striving to create a wide range of products, from unique watches that reflect the Japanese sense of beauty to digital time stamps that enable instant authentication of online transactions. I am always guided by the aim expressed in the Seiko Group's official Statement of Purpose — to create "a future full of smiles” — and I remain determined to contribute in any way possible to the healthy development of our nation.
While I am deeply honored to receive this award, I must humbly accept it on behalf of all the members of our Group, both here and abroad, who are working tirelessly toward the goal of creating a better world.

This decoration is awarded to persons who have rendered outstanding service to the nation or the public, and focuses on the nature of their achievements. Recipients are selected by the Cabinet twice a year, in the spring and fall. The 2023 Spring Conferment of Decorations will be officially held on May 12 this year.
