Seiko receives government certification to provide reliable timestamp for digital data

The Seiko Group has been providing timestamp services to help authenticate digital data since 2001. In 2006, we began providing the same services to both domestic and international customers through private sector certification, and we have built an impressive track record with governments, financial institutions, and medical institutions worldwide. With this certification from the MIC, Seiko Solutions is now able to provide a more reliable and robust service, authenticating the time and integrity of digital data.
In full compliance with the Electronic Bookkeeping Law, Seiko Solutions will continue to provide long-term reliability in the digitization of important and sensitive information, including electronic contracts, intellectual property protection, medical information, and administrative information.

Digitization has become an important keyword in global environmental protection and in the promotion of work style reform in the post-COVID era. For centuries, business in Japan has depended on the use of paper documents “signed” with personal seals, and the legal security of documents and seals has been indispensable for the conduct of business. Now that companies and government offices are rapidly converting to the use digital data, it is essential to ensure the reliability and security of this massive volume of digital data so that it can be used safely. The Seiko Solutions’ system helps support this shift to digitization, helps to protect the environment, and supports changing work styles. The Ministry’s certification system is expected to be one of the major reforms promoted by the MIC and the new Digital Agency.

Certification by the MIC is expected to further expand the use of Seiko's timestamp service and facilitate its use for data distribution to and from overseas.
