Seiko 130 Actions to Spread the Spirit of Harmony and Connection
The year 2011 saw the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami disaster, but it was also a milestone for Seiko in its 130 years of business. A wide variety of celebratory events were planned, but all were cancelled. In lieu of celebration we launched the Seiko 130 Actions, a series of more than 130 programs designed to aid residents and communities stricken by the earthquake and tsunami disaster.
The programs aim to spread the spirit of harmony and connection, such as by connecting support activities, connecting dreams and aspirations for the future and working together in harmony toward reconstruction. Group employees, individuals and volunteers actively participated in each of the programs, which included decontamination of the stricken areas, cleaning and repairing photos swept up by the tsunami, fundraising and sending daily items. As a result, a total of 138 programs were completed over a three-year period.
Although the “Seiko 130 Actions” project was concluded on March 10, 2014, the Seiko Holdings Group continues to conduct activities through concerts in a spirit of “harmony” supporting areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
