About the Institute
The facility has amassed a wide range of items and information related
to time and time-keeping instruments, providing visitors
with an introduction to the history of the founding and development
of
SEIKO as well as Japan’s clock and watch industry.
The Seiko Institute of Horology opened in 1981 to commemorate the centennial of Seiko' s founding. In addition to exhibiting a wide range of Seiko products past and present, it collects, catalogues, and preserves various articles, documents, and books related to time and time-keeping instruments from all over Japan and overseas. A visit to the Seiko Institute of Horology will give visitors a systematic understanding of Seiko' s history and the history of watch and clock industry.
